Our Club usually has at least one four wheel drive event every month. As members vehicles vary widely from the non-modified (as they left the showroom) to fully trail ready (diff-locks, lifted suspension) vehicles, so must our 4 wheel drive trips vary.
With fewer areas available for four wheel driving more of our 4WD trips are being made to local four wheel drive parks such as Landcruiser Park and Black Duck at Gatton. These parks have a variety of tracks that will suit everyone whether they are a novice or an experienced four wheeler.
Included in our 4WD events is the Clubs Sports Day. It’s held every two years and consists of a series of skill events, not speed, with trophies awarded to the winners. It’s a great weekend and many come along just as spectators.
In summer it’s a great time to visit the beach and we have had 4WD trips to some of the beautiful beaches just a couple of hours drive north of Brisbane. There’s Cooloola Beach with the wreck of the Cherry Venture, and Fraser Island, just an amazing untouched paradise.
Long weekends and Easter offer a great opportunity to venture further from home to do some four wheeling. Recent trips have been to Arcot near Texas, about 4 hours west of Brisbane, and the Clarence River south of Brisbane. In the last couple of years, the Jeep Action Magazine has organised a Jeep gathering at Coff's Harbour over the Easter break, so there is always a convoy of Queensland Jeepers heading south for that event. It’s a great way to meet Jeepers from Clubs in New South Wales, Canberra and Victoria. |
