Queensland Jeepers Club Inc. |
|
The Queensland Jeepers Club Inc was formed in 1981 to further the common interests of four wheel drivers in general, and Jeep owners in particular. Since then, the Club has steadily grown to include many different types of Jeeps, as well as a restricted number of foreign vehicles. The Club is based in Brisbane with members from Murwillumbah to Emerald and west to Toowoomba. The Club is a member of the Queensland Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs and affiliated with the Australian National Four Wheel Drive Council. Being associated with these organisations requires the Club to be bound by the Four Wheel Driver's Code of Ethics. Members are from every walk of life, and include both owners of four wheel drive vehicles and those who are not so lucky. Members vehicles range from the early World War II MB Jeeps right up to current TJ Wranglers, KJ Cherokees and Grand Cherokees. These vehicles also range from standard to modified, fully trail ready vehicles The Club is very active and our activities include organised trips, both one day and overnight, into wilderness and bush areas using the vehicles to their capacities and enjoying this great country of ours. Every year there are also extended (two to four week) trips into the Australian Outback, recent trips have included the Simpson Desert, Cape York and Lake Eyre. The Club is also involved in the Off-Road & Camping/Caravan Shows and The Smith Family Christmas Hamper Run. The
Club organises social outings such as bush and fancy dress dances,
film evenings and dinner at various types of restaurants and members
homes. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except December)
at the 4WDQld Hall, 90 Muriel Ave, Moorooka. After Club business
there is usually entertainment in the form of video, movies, slides
or informative talks and general discussion enjoyed by all, followed
by a light supper. Visitors are most welcome.
