A Club member owned property adjoining the Amamoor State Forest, so we had access to State Forest as well as private property. Trips were also organised to Fraser Island, these trips were particularly popular with interstate and overseas visitors. A gymkhana was The event was very successful and the Club received recognition from the State Forestry Rangers for the manner in which the event was run.
The next Jamboree was the 1999 Jeep Jamboree which was based in the township Kenilworth, with the Jamboree site in the local showgrounds. This Jamboree attracted 133 Jeeps over the weekend. We were also able to use adjoining land for the Gymkhana events. The Club spent many weekends in the 18 months leading up to the Jamboree locating and clearing forestry tracks. Unfortunately, it rained for the four days of the Jamboree and, here in Queensland, once it rains, Forestry tracks are closed.
2006 BLACK DUCK VALLEY
Our Jamboree Team worked hard planning events and trips for this Jamboree and it ran for 4 full days from Thursday 28th September to Sunday 1st October 2006. Participants were able to arrive on the Wednesday and stay until the Monday morning. Every Jamboree needs a variety of events and we prepared a full program of events for the 4 days of the Jamboree in 2006, as we have done in the past. Activities included rated four wheel drive trails from scenic to hard. Whether you just want to go for a drive down an old stock route or try out that latest lift kit, we had plenty of variety. There were gymkhana events and a mud pit, these are always popular with Jeepers as well as being great spectator events. The Show & Shine was an essential part of the Jamboree where Jeepers could show off their pride and joy and check out what other Jeepers had been doing to their Jeeps. Another important part of the Jamboree was the sit-down dinner on Saturday night for all participants of the Jamboree, this was included as part of their registration fees. Trophies for Show & Shine and Gymkhana events were presented at the dinner and a band was engaged for entertainment for the evening. To bring Jeepers together at the end of each day, either at Happy Hour or around the campfire, is also very important. Jamborees are about bringing people together and many good friendships have been formed over the years at Jamborees and the 2006 event was no different. Jamborees should essentially be about having fun and making new friends, all with a common interest, the Jeep. Jeep is not just a name of a four wheel drive, it's a lifestyle and we want to promote the Jeep experience. It's Friendships, Families and Fun in the great outdoors, It really is a Jeep Thing. A Jamboree should also be affordable – we have always endeavoured to keep our costs to a minimum so that as many Jeepers, and especially Jeeping families, can attend the event. While other brands of vehicles were allowed on site, only Jeep vehicles were allowed to participate in Jamboree trips and events, it was a JEEP ONLY weekend. We reached the Jeep community through the Chrysler Jeep Australia network of dealerships as well as through our many Sponsors. |
