Our Club tries to balance four wheel driving trips with social events, so we would usually have at least one social event every month. We try to have a good variety of social events so that there is something for everyone. These events can include movie nights at the local cinema, dinner at a restaurant, fancy dress parties or just about anything, we’ve even had rides in hovercrafts and gliders.
Soup Kitchens are always a favourite in the colder months, and breakfast by the ocean or lake are definitely popular in the summer months.
There are also regular social events, such as the Clubs Birthday. This is usually in the form of a barbeque held on a Sunday in a local park, where the birthday cake is cut by past and present Club Presidents. Coming up every two years is the Club Auction Day. At the Auction everyone clears out their cupboards at home and brings along their treasures, old Jeep bits and their junk. There is always feverish bidding for the more popular or rarer Jeep bits. It’s a great day of fun and excitement for young and old. All proceeds go to the Club.
Even during four wheel driving or outback trips there is always time for social activities. At the end of every day the Jeepers gather around the campfire for Happy Hour. This is where we share some snacks and drinks and tell stories of that days great adventure. It’s a great way to get to know your fellow Jeepers and many good friendships have been started at Happy Hour. There might also be a combined dinner where everyone brings along a plate a food and a banquet is enjoyed by all.
