Weekend Camp at Somerset Valley Farm - "Strathallan" - Coominya 20-23 October 2023

Bart has organised a weekend bush camp at his son, Simon’s property at 137 Willaura Drive, Coominya.
Arrive on Friday 20th October or Saturday 21st and stay till Sunday or Monday or just come for a day, Coominya is approximately 1 ½ hours drive from Brisbane.

The meeting point for the convoy on Friday will be Dinmore Pads Parking Bay (Westbound) on Warrego Highway, Bundamba at 9.30am. The convoy will then drive directly to the property, arriving at approximately 10.30am. If you are coming from the northside of Brisbane, you can make your own way to the property. On arrival, give Bart a call on UHF Channel 39 and he will show you the available campsites for you to choose. There will be no convoy on Saturday, just make your own way. Those coming on Saturday might like to meet us in Esk at the markets before going to camp.

This will be a “bush” camping weekend.

What this site offers -

Relaxing campsites

Campfire (if allowed at the time due to fire restrictions) – There is a communal fireplace

Pets allowed - On leash

Fresh Eggs available for breakfast from the chicken coop

There are no toilets, showers, laundry or potable water available. Everyone must be self-sufficient and please remove all your rubbish when you leave.

Telstra mobile works and Optus close to the house.

Whilst Simon has his property listed with Hipcamps, he does not charge family and friends to camp on his property. However, if you would like to make a small donation for camping on the weekend, you will find a box on the drop-down shelf on the side of The Farnells caravan where you can put in a donation and the donations will be given to Simon at the end of the weekend.

Friday afternoon will be spent relaxing, taking a stroll around the property and enjoy a campfire in the evening (if campfires are permitted).

Saturday we will head into Esk for the Country Markets which runs from 7am till 12 noon. Convoy will depart at 9am. After visiting the markets, there will be time to wander through the town checking out the Antique Shop, Gallery and other outlets in town and have morning tea or take your own thermos and enjoy a cuppa in the park. Saturday night, we will sit down for dinner together at 7pm. Everyone to cook their own dinner.

For the remainder of the weekend, other activities are being investigated, but you can be ensured of a fun weekend with the Jeepers. There might even be a pub lunch at one of the local pubs, to be advised as we get closer to the weekend.

Simon has advised that there are resident Koalas on the property, so there might be a prize for the first one to spot a koala. Photos won’t be accepted, Bart will need to see the real “living” koala.

To help plan the weekend, please advise if you will be attending the weekend, if you will be joining the convoy at Bundamba or which day you will be arriving.

Any queries, please contact Bart on 0428553566 or Carolyn on 0428143146.
