Camping trip to Lake Dyer at Laidley

15 – 19 October 2026

134 Gatton – Laidley Road East, Laidley Heights

Lake Dyer is surrounded by sweeping countryside and nestled between the villages of Laidley and Forest Hill.  Lake Dyer offers a peaceful lakeside escape in the heart of the Lockyer Valley. About 10klms off the Warrego Highway, it’s a welcoming destination for families, travellers, nature lovers and groups of friends.

Whether you’re gliding across the water, casting a line at sunset, or relaxing under the shade of a gum tree, Lake Dyer is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. Rikki & Vince Janko, who suggested this destination, have visited this Camping Ground and thought it would be a great place for the Club to go.

While we are camped at Lake Dyer, we will visit the Laidley & Forest Hill townships, enjoy a pub meal, visit some other local places and do a scenic drive or two. Details of the itinerary for the weekend are still being planned but there will be plenty to keep you busy. You can come for the 4 nights or just a couple of days or even come for a day trip as it is not far from Brisbane.

Pets are allowed & must be booked in and kept on a leash at all times. They are not permitted to enter the lake as it is stocked with fish.

Firepits are not permitted, however there is a wood fired bbq place where we might be able to build a fire. If you have some spare wood you might like to bring it with you.

Facilities include – Ensuite Toilets & Showers, Barbeques, Boat Ramp, 1.4klms to the Laidley township, Mobile Reception. There is no Dump Point at the campground but there is one at John Street in the swimming pool carpark which is nearby.

Fees for up to 2 adults & 2 children –

Powered sites $37/night;

Unpowered $30/night

Key Bond: $35 for use of the locked toilet & shower ensuites.

Public toilets accessible without key.

Pensioners pay for 3 nights and get the 4th night free.

If you wish to pay the balance of your camping fees in cash on arrival, there is a further small discount, otherwise you can pay by card.

12 powered sites have been tentatively booked. Please ensure you have an extra power lead as some sites will be a short distance from the power box. More sites can be booked if required.

Arrival & booking in times are ONLY between 10am – 12 noon or 2pm – 5pm. Call in at Caretaker’s Office on arrival to complete booking in process. When you book in, you will be given very specific details on how your van has to be parked on some sites. Please take note of what you are told, as if you don’t park the correct way you are instructed, you will have to move your van later on. If you are unsure when you get to your site, please check with Vince & Rikki or Carolyn.

If you are planning to attend this trip, you will need to contact the Campground Caretaker, Donna, on 0439368561 to make your booking and pay one night’s fee as a deposit. (Balance payable on arrival.)  Please advise that you are with the Queensland Jeepers group. You will need to provide your vehicle registration number, length of your van and if you will be bringing pets, when booking in. There are 8 slab sites and 4 grass sites.

Directions - From the Warrego Highway (A2) at Plainland, take the Laidley exit and follow the signs for Laidley. After approx 8 kms continue through the main street of Laidley. Cross the bridge and take the first right at Gatton/Forest Hill turnoff. Travel approx 2kms and turn left into Lake Dyer/Bill Gunn Dam.
