Christmas in July at Grandchester

Updated: May 15

11th - 13th July 2025

* Please read through all the information below so that you know what will be happening, what you need to do, what to bring and what to expect.

AND  Please advise Carolyn 0428143146  farnellgc@bigpond.com if you will be attending the weekend or just for a day. The Committee need this information for planning and catering.

Christmas in July weekend will be on private property at Grandchester (276-304 Sippels Rd)

Unfortunately, no signage can be put at the gate, however this is a photo of the entrance. It will be on your left hand side of the road and yes, the last bit of the road is dirt.

This will be a “bush” camping weekend. There is no power or water available. There is a “drop” toilet on site but caravan toilets MUST NOT BE EMPTIED into the “DROP” TOILET.  There is a “Dump Point” in John Street, Laidley (near the pool) which is approx. 12klms from camp.

Pets are allowed but must be restrained. Generators are permitted but please be considerate of your neighbours.

You can arrive anytime Friday or Saturday and depart by Sunday afternoon. The Club has arranged for sole use of the covered area which has a big fireplace in the middle to keep everyone warm.  The club will be purchasing firewood for use in the central firepit but you are welcome to bring firewood if you want to.

Camping fees for the weekend are $10/person/night payable in cash to Carolyn.

There are no planned drives over the weekend but you might like to visit one or two of the local towns in the surrounding area.

On Saturday evening, the Club will be providing a Christmas Dinner for Members and at a nominal cost for any visitors. BYO drinks, glasses, plates & cutlery.  Santa will be making a visit after dinner.  Santa would like some assistance, so each person is required to bring 1 gift to contribute to Santa’s sack. For females, bring a gift wrapped in “pinkish” paper; for males, bring a gift wrapped in “blue-ish” paper. Gifts can be “funny”, “something suitable for female or male” or “generic” and to the value of approximately $10. If you are bringing any children or grandchildren, please bring a gift for them clearly marked with their name.  As members do at the end-of-year Christmas Dinner, if you wish to decorate where you will be sitting at the table, feel free to do so. Will certainly add to the Christmas Cheer.

For catering purposes, we will need to know by FRIDAY 4TH JULY if you will be attending the weekend. It is many years since the Club held a Christmas in July, but it will be a lot of fun, so we hope you can make it along for the whole weekend or even just for a day.

Should you have any queries, please contact Carolyn.
