While public transport fares are only 50c each way, so a total of $1 for the whole day, what a great opportunity to spend a day on beautiful Moreton Bay visiting Russell Island for morning tea and Macleay Island for lunch. You can use your Go Card or Contactless Debit or Credit Card to pay your fare.
The number of people who want to attend will be essential for catering and organisational purposes.
The meeting point/ferry terminal will be at the Redland Bay Marina (Weinam Creek Ferry Terminal). There are a couple of public unpaid carparks near the ferry terminal and you might be lucky to pick up a carpark there but possibly the best carpark will be the Moores Road Carpark. If you follow the signs to the Public Boat Ramp, you will see the big Moores Road Carpark which has around 500 car spaces. Once parked in (Moores Road Carpark) look for the fence which leads to a footbridge over Weiman Creek and a connecting flat pathway to the passenger ferry, taking an average of eight minutes to walk. If passengers can’t do the 8 minute walk, suggest that the driver drops the passenger/s off at the terminal and goes to find a carpark. Please ensure to check the signage carefully in all areas to avoid a parking fine.
Meeting time is around 9.15am to allow plenty of time to catch the 9.40am ferry, arriving at Russell Island at 10am.

At Russell Island we will have morning tea at Auntie Alice’s Café. From the ferry terminal to the café will be about 170 metre walk and the first 100 metres is a little uphill. There will be no rush, so take your time walking up the hill. After morning tea, we will make our way back to the Ferry Terminal in time for the ferry to Macleay Island.
The ferry to Macleay Island departs at 11.20. On arrival at Macleay Island (11.33am), a

courtesy bus will transport us to Club Macleay (Bowls Club) for lunch. The bus can seat about 12 people, so depending on how many people attend, the bus will have to make a couple of runs. There is another group having lunch at the Bowls Club that day as well, so the courtesy bus will keep running back and forth until everyone is at the Club.
The Bowls Club has offered our group “Members” prices on the menu. The menu can be found on the Club Macleay website. It offers Seafood, Salads, Mains & Grill.
After lunch the bus will return us to the ferry for our return ferry ride back to the mainland.
There are a few return ferries, so you can choose which will suit you. Don’t forget to allow time to get back to the ferry terminal in the courtesy bus, especially as there is another group lunching at the Bowls Club on that day.

Ferry departure times –
1.21pm travelling via Lamb Is & Russell Is, arriving at the Mainland at 1.55pm – 34mins
1.48pm going via Karragarra Is to the Mainland, arriving at 2.06pm - 18mins
2.13pm as per 1.48 ferry, arriving at 2.31pm
2.33pm as per 1.48 ferry, arriving at 2.51pm
